Matt Tyler - Tyler was named head men's and women's tennis coach at Wartburg in July of 2009.
Before coming to Wartburg, he was an assistant at NCAA Division I Colgate University of New York since July of 2008. The Raiders finished the 2009 campaign with a 12-8 record and were runner-ups in the Patriot League.
Prior to coaching at Colgate, he had been the tennis professional at the Ken Caryl Ranch in Littleton, Colo., since 2004, working for one of the largest junior tennis programs in the state. He was in charge of coaching sectionally and nationally-ranked juniors and assisting juniors with recruitment into collegiate tennis. He also created and ran the Ken Caryl Ranch High Performance Program. Before his stay at Ken Caryl, he held the position of assistant tennis pro at Junction Tennis Academy in Colorado from 2002-2004 and was an instructor at Benson's Nike Tennis Camp in the summer of 2000.
Also serving as the athletic department's equipment manager, Matt and his wife, Erin, reside in Waverly.
Mike Strydom - Strydom has been an assistant in the Wartburg men's and women's programs for the past two seasons. A native of Zimbabwe, he's been playing tennis since the mid-1980s and has coached tennis at all youth levels since 1997. He's also experienced in the high school game having coached in South Africa, Scotland, Wales, England and the United States. A member of Waterloo's Blackhawk Tennis Club 4.5 team, Strydom also excels in rugby and cricket, being a certified coach in each. He, his wife, Amy, and son, Noah, reside in Tripoli. |
